In the beautiful garden of a Rabat house

A milky shade of scarlet brown
shaped quite well round
the summer air ripens
the stem and fruit loosen
gravity does its best job
pulls towards
colleague steps squash
juice spills

baking limestone paving
drinks discolours
curious reptile waddles
super sprints off
at the smallest of movements
churches distant chime

Thank you for now
hunger strikes
lunch time

Seated awkwardly
bent double
writing on my knee
directly opposite to Waddly

Hiding under umbrellas
scent of ripeness strong
only to remind me
and my colleague too
saying its lunch time
whilst he arranges his shoe.
